Auto manufacturers have made two big acquisitions this week:

Toyota hired the entire staff of Jaybridge, a Massachusetts-based autonomous driving company. This wasn’t actually billed as an explicit acquisition, but rather as a type of acqui-hire or contract.

GM purchased Cruise Automation for a reported $1 billion.

It’s exciting to see the big manufacturers focus more on self-driving cars.
